It can be hard to spot deterioration in software. Performance degradation happens subtly over time in all software, including finance department software such as performance management and ERP systems. However, our research finds a correlation between the age of an ERP system and satisfaction with it. 80% of organizations that have replaced their ERP system within the past year are happy with its performance. By contrast, only half of those with a system from one to six years old and just 19% with a system more than seven years old say they’re satisfied. This technology has advanced slowly but steadily, so although improvements may be hard to spot, the cumulative impact is significant.
