The annual Ventana Research Digital Innovation Awards showcase advances in the productivity and potential of business applications as well as technology that contributes significantly to the improved processes and performance of an organization. Our goal is to recognize technology and vendors that have introduced noteworthy digital innovations to advance business and IT that optimizes organizational resilience and workforce readiness.

Ventana Research has awarded MongoDB Atlas its prestigious 2022 Data Digital Innovation Award. This award is given to the vendor that best exemplifies innovation in data and related technologies for supporting information management-related needs. All finalists in the areas of Data category were considered for this award.

Operational data platforms are designed to store, manage and process data in support of worker- and customer-facing operational applications across on-premises, hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Ventana Research selected MongoDB for the 15th Annual Data Digital Innovation Award for its Atlas multi-cloud data platform, which targets developers who facilitate the expansion of operational applications that support greater business agility; enable on-premises, cloud- and mobile-based consumption; and deliver more interactive and personalized application experiences.

The success of MongoDB Atlas is driven by customer demand for cloud-based managed services but has also been accelerated by the delivery of additional functionality, including data replication across multiple clouds, full-text search, the ability to query data stored in cloud storage services and charting and visualization for real-time business intelligence based on real-time aggregation pipelines.

These capabilities are complemented by the recent addition of column store indexing for embedded operational analytics as well as the new Atlas SQL interface to improve compatibility between the document data model and business intelligence and analytics tools. As a result of adding these features, MongoDB Atlas is now a potential platform for multiple workloads that were once considered unsuitable for document databases.

Organizations looking for a hybrid on-premises and/or multi-cloud data platform should examine MongoDB Atlas and the role it can serve as the database-as-a-service foundation for developing new operational applications to drive business transformation. If you have not examined how MongoDB Atlas can help your organization, it is well worth your time. Congratulations, MongoDB, for your digital innovation in data technologies.
