Product Information in Manufacturing
To run smoothly and successfully, a manufacturing organization that’s already digitally connected internally and with customers and the supply chain needs consistent, accurate, configurable and actionable product information. To accomplish this, the organization must ensure that the processes it uses to develop and disseminate product information are both efficient and effective.
Unfortunately, managing and improving product information can prove to be a difficult challenge because the various processes and tracking systems on which manufacturing, distribution and retail industries rely frequently use different names and attributes to describe the same products. This challenge is further exacerbated as new forms of products that utilize internet of things (IoT) technology are introduced, challenging the limits of available flexibility in product information definitions and attributes.
