SAN MATEO, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—October 30, 2007—Ventana Research, the leading research and advisory services firm, announces the release of the Ventana Research Scorecard - 2007 Midyear BI and Performance Management Vendor and Product Scorecard, an assessment of technology capabilities to enable Performance Management. The scorecard is independent and objective research of vendors and their products based on factual analysis of 349 questions and 47 functional capabilities.
The scoring rated Overall compliance to Performance Management and as well as the categories of Align, Optimize and Understand. These three steps are the foundation of Ventana Research’s Performance Management methodology, PerformanceCycleTM. The top vendors were (in order):
• Overall: Infor, Symphony Metreo, Cognos, Business Objects and Actuate
• Align: Cognos, Infor, Softscape, and then tie between Applix, Business Objects and Symphony Metreo
• Optimize: Infor, Symphony Metreo, Business Objects, Cognos and tie between Actuate and RiverLogic
• Understand: Actuate, Infor, Information Builders and then tie between Cognos and Symphony Metreo

All technology providers were invited to participate in the research. As part of this project we validated 13 vendors and their products that provide technology for enabling BI and Performance Management. Additionally, we evaluated four vendors that did not choose to participate but nonetheless are major suppliers in the BI and Performance Management technology market.
